There is something that I like about a simple, minimalist hammered silver band. Something about the random order of the hammer strokes, each flattened facet catching the light just a bit differently. I'm also kinda a big fan of quality and I love knowing that this little ring is solid 935 silver; no plating, no solder (that makes me happy!). I think this ring has a quiet elegance about it.

I use high quality solid 935 Silver to create this lovely little ring. First, the silver gets measured and cut to length. Then, I bend it until the ends meet and I'll take it over to my oxy propane torch station. Now, I could use solder to join the ring ends at this point, but instead, I use a technique called fusing, which I like better. To fuse the ring, I carefully heat the joint until the silver just begins to melt. At this point, the surface tension of the liquid metal will draw the joint together leaving me with a strong solderless joint. Next, I hammer the ring to give it a pleasing texture, to add strength, and also to bring it to the correct size. Finally this little ring will get tumbled for a couple hours, leaving it with a pleasing polished finish.
